In November 2003 I decided to train as a Bowen therapist. On my first course I met Vivien Ash. Originally from Oldham, Vivien had settled in Newquay and ran a thriving beauty practice from her home there. We trained together and passed our final level Bowen exam in August 2004, and we became good friends as well as colleagues. Vivien’s passion for Bowen was infectious and her business went from strength to strength, with many people benefiting from her treatments.

Two years on from the exam, in August 2006, Vivien began suffering headaches and feeling generally unwell. She was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer. She fought the disease with dignity and courage, knowing that the treatment she endured would only buy her time. In February 2007 her condition deteriorated and she was given days to live. She fought on for five more weeks and died peacefully at home on 23rd March 2007.

My walk is in memory of Viv, and in aid of Cancer Research UK in the hope that together we can prevent further tragedies from happening.
